Recording
We are often asked how we record our services. Here is an overview of the recording process:
We use a MOTU 896 and Behringer ADA8000 form a 16-channel recording rig. This is routed into an Apple iBook G4 via FireWire. A key to the sound of our recordings is using ambient mics to pick up the sound of the room, as well as the audience. For this, we use a stereo pair of Shure KSM109’s. We use Tracktion 2 software for recording and mastering. Each instrument is recorded onto its own channel for a multitrack recording that can be mixed to a good balance during post-production. To create MP3 files, we use iTunes. The files are then uploaded via FTP to our site for others to enjoy.
